How are profiles created in Nirovision?

Profiles can be created in several ways using the Nirovision applications.

There are benefits and disadvantages to each method. For example, CSV import is a simple method when available, but requires subsequent manual importing when new people need to be added to the system. Doorkeeper self-enrolment is easy to use when enrolling visitors but can be slower to activate when enrolling a large list of employees at once.

Where an existing database of people is being kept in an external system, such as a payroll platform, employee management solution or time in attendance software, an effective strategy can be to create synchronisation middleware to import new and existing people into the Nirovision platform by using the REST API.

Methods to create profiles

📌 Using the Nirovision API

If you have an existing database of faces, and you want permanent sync to Nirovision.

You can set and forget: you configure the integration, and from that moment onwards, information is programmatically synced to your account, creating and updating identities.

📌 Using the Import Tool

If you have an existing database of faces but you don't want permanent sync to Nirovision. 

You can use those images from the existing database to create profiles with names, metadata and faces at once. This approach requires maintenance effort, as new imports will have to be periodically performed to update the database.

If you have user data, such as names and emails, but no face images.

You can use that data to create profiles without faces, and then add faces via other methods.

📌 Pre-register someone

If you know the person is coming in ahead of time and know their email address

You can use the person's email address to invite them to Nirovision's profiles. This will let them by pass the onboarding step when they get to Doorkeeper.

📌 Self-enrolment, via Doorkeeper

If you're starting from scratch and want users to self-enrol, that is, to submit their faces and other metadata themselves.
This is our preferred enrolment mechanism, as it offers users the ability to enrol themselves and generally yields outstanding face quality.
